The Northwest Regional Center of the Ombudsman conducted a series of awareness-raising events during the "Human Rights Month" campaign.
The events took place across multiple locations, including Yeni Sharif village in the Balakan district, the Sheki District Psychiatric Hospital, the Sheki "ASAN service" center, and Yukhari Chardakhlar village in the Zagatala district. The events were attended by employees of state and local self-government authorities, ASAN volunteers, and local residents.
Parviz Mammadov, Head of the Regional Center, spoke at the events about the "State Program on the Protection of Human Rights", which was the first strategic state document in the field of human rights adopted at the national level. The document was approved by the National Leader, Heydar Aliyev.
It was also noted that President, Ilham Aliyev, signed a decree, dated June 18, 2007, according to which the period from May 18 to June 18 is celebrated annually as Human Rights Day across the country. Accordingly, the Ombudsman declared it the "Human Rights Month" campaign.
Furthermore, comprehensive information was provided at the events regarding the Ombudsman’s activities in the field of protecting human rights and freedoms, and questions were answered.
