Legal educational event on Ombudsman’s NPM mandate was held in Penitentiary Service Pre-trial Detention Facility No. 2

The Ombudsman’s West Regional Center organized a legal educational event on the topic "The mandate of the Ombudsman's National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) as an important tool in preventing torture" for detainees in the Pre-Trial Detention Facility No. 2 of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan based in Ganja city.

During the event, Sabuhi Abbasov, Head of the Regional Center broadly informed detainees about the Ombudsman's NPM mandate, including activities in the field of protection of the rights of persons deprived liberty, including detanees’, accused persons and prisoners’ rights, Ombudsman application procedures, including the "916" Call Center. The speaker answered questions of the participants.

After the event, a confidential personal reception was held with those who wished to apply to the Ombudsman, and their applications were taken for investigation.
