The National Preventive Group of the Ombudsman Continues Its Monitoroing Visits

Pursuant to the Ombudsman’s mandate as the national preventive mechanism, the Members of the National Preventive Group (NPG) conducted a visit to the Penitentiary Institution No. 8 of the Ministry of Justice’s Penitentiary Service.  
The Group Members inspected the residential quarters, a disciplinary cell, a medical-sanitary unit, a dining hall, and storage area of the penal facility. The detention condition, sanitary standards, and compliance with the rights of convicts were monitored on site. 
During the inspection, NPG members conducted confidential interviews with randomly selected inmates to hear their requests and accepted their petitions addressed to the Ombudsman.   
The findings of the visit will be submitted to the Ministry of Justice.
