Ombudsman Received New UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan

The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, met with the new United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Dmytro Shlapachenko.

During the meeting, the Ombudsman briefed her guest on national human rights reforms, as well as the Ombudsman’s mandate and ongoing efforts to protect fundamental human rights and freedoms.

The Ombudsman stressed the productive cooperation between the Ombudsman Institution and the UN charter- and treaty-based bodies, noting that these partnerships significantly advance human rights and foster a broader culture of rights.

The Ombudsman touched upon the importance of launching joint projects and exchanging expertise across key human rights areas to further strengthen this collaboration. 

Expressing his gratitude to the Ombudsman for the meeting, Dmytro Shlapachenko stated his interest in deepening cooperation in human rights protection.
