Awareness-raising events were organized by the Ombudsman's Regional Centers on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of the National Leader

The Western, North-West, Northern and Southern Regional Centers of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized a series of legal awareness events on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev during the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”. Employees of state institutions, law-enforcement, local executive and local self-government bodies and public audience took part in the events.

First, the dear memory of the outstanding statesman, genius, Great Leader Heydar and martyrs of the patriotic war was commemorated with a minute of silence.

During the speeches, the provision and protection of human rights and freedom in independent Azerbaijan is stated to be one of the supreme goals of our state. Identification of these goals, realization of implementing mechanisms and creation of legal basis in this regard is pointed to be associated with the name of the founder of the independent state, National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

It was said that consistent, systematic and far-sighted reforms were launched in the framework of legal state-building after the coming of Great Leader Heydar Aliye to the power. As a result, significant achievements have been made in ensuring human rights and freedoms, as in all fields of social life.

The protection of human rights was noted to be one of the main directions of the activity of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of our people. It was also stated that the National Leader had always underlined the necessity of protecting and creating conditions for fundamental human rights and freedoms as a prerequisite of the secular state-building process was brought to special attention.

During the speeches, extensive information has been given about the progressive reforms implemented by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev as a founder of the national human rights concept and legal system.

In the events, the participants were also informed about the activities of the Ombudsman institution, established in our country with the blessing of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, and about the 916 Call Center, and their questions were answered in detail.
