Letter from the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan to the Head of the General Inspection Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman), Sabina Aliyeva wrote a letter to the head of the human rights organization, the General Inspection Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Zabihullah Khodaeian.  

In her letter, the Ombudsman strongly condemned the terror act committed against the embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran, Iran, on January 27, 2023, and reiterated the serious violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the 1973 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons, including Diplomatic Agents.  

The Azerbaijani Ombudsman urged the human rights organization of Iran, in question, to take necessary and urgent measures for bringing the organizers of this violent crime and its perpetrators to justice within their mandate.
