The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, had a meeting with the recently released from Armenian captivity military servicemen of the Azerbaijani Army, Huseyn Akhundov and Agshin Babirov, who were taken captive by Armenia in April 2023 in the Shahbuz district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic along the border with Armenia and detained.
At the meeting, the Ombudsman congratulated H. Akhundov and A. Babirov on their release from the Armenian captivity as a result of the continuous efforts and decisiveness of the country’s President, Victorius Commander in-Chief, Ilham Aliyev.
The Ombudsman is inquired about the health, current conditions, and concerns of our military servicemen. They provided information about the inhumane treatment they faced while being detained in Armenia.
The Ombudsman, in turn, said that the issues raised by our military servicemen will be raised before the relevant international institutions, and necessary steps will be taken to ensure their rights.
