The Office of the Ombudsman held an event on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons

The Office of the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan organized a round table event for beneficiaries at the social service institution for the older persons of the Social Services Agency. The awareness-raising event held on the theme "Protecting the rights of the older persons and strengthening their social protection" was dedicated to October 1 - the International Day of the Older Persons.

In addition to the employees of the Ombudsman Office, representatives of the Social Services Agency and non-governmental organizations also participated in the event.

Ayten Tarverdiyeva, head of the Unit on Protection of Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the Ombudsman Office, spoke at the event. During her speech, she said that the protection of the rights of the elderly, people with disabilities and other socially vulnerable population groups, including senior citizens from the families of martyrs and veterans, is always in the focus of the Ombudsman and they are treated with special care.

During the event, representatives of the Ombudsman listened to the problems of the elderly and registered their appeals.
