Temporary Detention Place of the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings was monitored

By the instruction of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, the Ombudsman’s National Preventive Group (NPG) members conducted a visit to the Temporary Detention Place (TDP) of the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs without prior notice.

During the visit, which was also attended by the doctor and psychologist members of the NPG, the cells, medical and meeting rooms, kitchen and walking area of the TDP were monitored.

It was found that all the cells of the TDP were repaired, also the medical room allocated for rendering healthcare services to the detained persons was supplied with the necessary inventory and medications.

At the end of the monitoring, the NPG members met with the administration and staff of the facility, held awareness talks, and gave recommendations for the improvement of detention conditions and documentation.
