A staff member of the Ombudsman participated in a workshop on Early Childhood Development

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNICEF, and “Regional Development” Public Union (PU) held a national workshop on the road map for cross-sectoral coordination of Early Childhood Development in Azerbaijan (ECD) from 30 June to 1 July. 

The head of the International Relations Department at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, a deputy Mr. Soltan Mammadov, Mr. Alex Heikens, UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan, officials of the Ministry of Public health, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, Ministry of Education, and State Committee for Family, Women and Child Affairs, a representative of the PU “Regional Development”, and members of the ECD technical working group (WG), as well as Ms. Lilia Jelamschi, an ECD specialist took part in the workshop.

At the workshop, Ms. Nigar Aghayeva, head of the Children's Rights Protection Unit in the Ombudsman Institution, made a presentation as a member of the ECD technical WG and sounded the measures necessary to improve the current situation in the country regarding early childhood development, as well as the proposals reflected in the Ombudsman’s annual reports in this field.

The participants of the event made presentations reflecting the work done in this field, existing shortcomings, proposals on the mentioned road map, and exchanged opinions on the topic.
