The Regional Centers of the Ombudsman organized a series of events as part of Human Rights Month

Legal awareness events were held by the Ombudsman's Regional Centers (Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western regions) within the framework of the "Human Rights Month" announced by the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan.

Employees of local executive and self-government bodies, other enterprises, departments and organizations, students, and public representatives took part in the events.

It was noted at the event that ensuring, protecting, and further expanding human rights and freedoms in independent Azerbaijan is the highest goal of the state.

During the event, it was noted that the order of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev dated June 18, 1998, approved the "State Program for the Protection of Human Rights", the first strategic state document in the field of human rights in our country.

It was said that according to the decree of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated 18.06.2007, June 18 is celebrated as Human Rights Day in Azerbaijan, and the Ombudsman traditionally declares the “Human Rights Month” campaign from May 18 to June 18.

During the speeches, detailed information was provided on the state programs adopted in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms, legislative acts, international documents to which our country is a party, as well as the Ombudsman's activities in protecting human rights and freedoms.

The issues related to measures to protect the health of children, youth, women, the elderly, people with disabilities, refugees, IDPs, and migrants, as well as other social groups, education, social security, and other rights, promotion of healthy lifestyles, complications of early marriages, domestic violence, drug abuse, and anti-discrimination were discussed during the events.

The participants also shared their views, underlying the importance of legal awareness-raising events in the development of legal thinking and the legal culture of the society.
