The Regional Centers of the Ombudsman have organized events on the rights of people living with autism

The Ombudsman's Ganja, Jalilabad, Sheki, and Guba regional centers held legal awareness-raising events on autism.

The Ombudsman's Ganja Regional Center held an event on "Promotion and protection of the rights of autistic people " with the participation of children living with autism and their parents rehabilitated in the Ganja Community-Based Rehabilitation Center of the United Aid for Azerbaijan (UAFA) as part of the Autism Awareness Month. During the event, the staff of the Regional Center accepted the appeals of parents who want to apply to the Commissioner on various issues.

The Jalilabad Regional Center also held an educational event titled "Public Awareness of Autism" at the district central library. The event has brought together the representatives of government agencies and the young people.

Aside, the Sheki Regional Center organized an awareness event on the topic "Support to social and legal protection of autistic persons" with the participation of teachers of Sheki Integrated Boarding Gymnasium, city Education Department, Sheki Department of the State Social Protection Fund, Sheki Central District Hospital Public Legal Entity, parents of children with autism and students of Sheki Medical College.

As part of the awareness month, the Guba Regional Center hosted an awareness-raising event on "Supporting the social inclusion of people with autism".

During the aforementioned events, it was spoken about state sustainable policy to eliminate the problems of people with autism, the Ombudsman’s activities in the field of the protection of the rights of children with disabilities, including those with autism. It was also underlined the necessity of measures for increasing the public awareness of autism, the increase the professionalism of specialists working with these children, and ensuring the participation of this group of people in social processes. It was also noted that the Ombudsman proposed to adopt a special normative legal act and a relevant state program on state care for people with ASD.

The event continued with an interactive discussion on the topic and the questions of the participants were answered.
