Ombudsman submitted 2021 Annual Report

According to Article 14 of the Constitutional Law on the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ombudsman issued her 2021 Annual Report on the protection of human rights in the country.  

Not later than 2 months after the end of each year, the Commissioner submits her annual report to the country President and speaks with that report before the Parliament of Azerbaijan.  

Annual Report is also submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, Constitutional and Supreme Courts, and the Prosecutor-General.

This year, the 2021 Annual Report of the Ombudsman has been submitted to the President of Azerbaijan and relevant governmental bodies as provided by the Constitutional Law on 28 February 2022. 

The Annual Report highlights the situation with the restoration of the rights and freedoms laid down in the Constitution and international treaties by which Azerbaijan is bound, and violated by state bodies municipalities, and officials, actions to prevent human rights violations, outcomes of the legal education and scientific-analytical work, cooperation with the public and civil society organizations, international cooperation, suggestions, and recommendations to ensure further and effective protection of human and citizens’ rights.    

The Report will be publicly available after the hearing the Report before Parliament.
