The Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva participated in the next online meeting on the establishment of the Association of Ombudsmen of Turkic-speaking Countries. The meeting brought together the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, the Chief Ombudsman of Turkey, Ombudsmen from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and representatives of national human rights institutions.
Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva made a speech at the meeting, underlining the significance of the 8th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States held on 12 November 2021. It was also stressed that the meeting was very important in terms of further strengthening cooperation between the Member States and entering a new phase.
S.Aliyeva noted that the Summit gave impetus to further strengthening cooperation between the Turkic-speaking countries in all areas, including in the field of human rights. Therefore, emphasizing the importance of accelerating the process of adopting the Statute of the Association of Ombudsmen of Turkic-speaking Countries, the Ombudsman put forward a number of proposals related to the Statute.
It should be noted that the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan carried out active works in the establishment of this Association and is currently continuing this work.
