The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, and members of the delegation led by the President of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsmen Association (OIC OA), General Ombudsman of Turkey Mr. ?eref Malkoç, and the Advisor to the Secretary General of the Association Mr. Muhammed Javed Ghani carried out a fact-finding mission in Tartar district, the one most affected by the heavy artillery and rocket attacks by Armenian armed forces during the 44-day Patriotic War.
The main purpose of the fact-finding visit is to conduct on-site investigation, gather evidence in Tartar district and prepare a report based on the outcomes of the monitoring for further submission to international organizations.
The delegation then monitored civilian facilities, houses, hospitals, educational institutions, kindergartens, government buildings and other social facilities, where there were casualties as a result of heavy artillery and rocket attacks, as well as those subjected to serious damage.
During the on-site investigations, the Ombudsman, the staff members of the Office and the delegation of the OIC Ombudsmen Association collected the necessary information and evidence to prepare a report to be sent to international organizations as a result of the visit.
It should be noted that after the fact-finding mission to Tartar city, the delegation will hold a press conference at the Ombudsman Office to evaluate the results of the on-site investigations and will issue a Statement. The public will be informed about the further details.
