The Azerbaijani Ombudsman expresses her concern about the tensions at the border

Tensions have been observed on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border for several days. As a result of the firing by the armed forces of Armenia, there are killed and wounded Azerbaijani servicemen. We are seriously concerned about the fact that the Armenian side continues trying to increase tensions in the direction of Kalbajar district of the state border since last night, which caused the cases of wounded people.

The fact that the Armenian side ignores the ceasefire on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and uses large-caliber weapons once again proves that this country not only neglects the peacebuilding process but also seriously obstructs it.

Threats to the territorial integrity of the Azerbaijan Republic within the internationally recognized borders are unacceptable. Despite our regular remarks recalling the international law requirements and calls for respecting human rights, the Armenian side shows disrespect for the conditions of peace and coexistence in the region.

Once again we call on the Armenian side to make efforts for the protection of life and health of people and for ensuring peaceful coexistence and urge the international community to make necessary calls.
