The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva continues her official visit to the Republic of Turkey.
In the frame of the official visit, Ms.Aliyeva met with Mr. Mustafa ?entop, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Mr. Hakan Çavu?o?lu, the Chair of the Human Rights Inquiry Committee of the Parliament, Ms. Mihrimah Belma Sat?r, the Chair of the Appeals Committee of the Parliament, and several MPs.
During the meeting, Mr. Mustafa ?entop stressed that the friendly and fraternal relations between both countries are based on deep historical roots and mutual trust, noting that the inter-parliamentary cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey is at the highest level. He also noted that he paid an official visit to Azerbaijan with the delegation during the war and witnessed crimes against humanity committed by Armenia against civilians.
The Chair of the Human Rights Inquiry Committee of the Parliament, Mr. Hakan Çavu?o?lu briefed about their activities in the field of human rights protection. Mr. Çavu?o?lu noted that the Republic of Turkey provided moral and political support in restoring the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and that the brotherly Turkish people have always stood by Azerbaijan.
Participating in the meeting, Turkish parliamentary officials congratulated Azerbaijani people on the victory and said they were proud of the glorious historic victory of the entire Turkic world.
Ms. Sabina Aliyeva stated that the brotherly Turkish state supported the position of our country from the very beginning of the Patriotic War. The Azerbaijani Ombudsman noted that a fact-finding mission was conducted in Ganja city together with the delegation headed by the Chief Ombudsman of Turkey Mr. ?eref Malkoç, and the report on human rights violations committed by Armenia against Azerbaijani peaceful civilians was prepared and sent to numerous relevant international organizations.
The Ombudsman Ms. Sabina Aliyeva informed about the reforms implemented in Azerbaijan to protect human rights and freedoms, the adopted legal and normative acts, as well as the Ombudsman's cooperation with parliament in the concerned field.
Further, the members of the Human Rights Inquiry Committee of the Parliament, the deputies Mr. Atay Uslu, Mr.Osman Nuri Gülaçar, Ms. Oya Eronat, Ms. Pakize Mutlu Aydemir, Mr. Mehmet Bülent Karata?, Mr. Servet Ünsal, and the members of the Application Committee of the Parliament, deputies Mr. Fehmi Küpçü, Mr. Mustafa Kendirli, and Ms. Arzu Aydin also made speeches at the meeting. All of them have acknowledged the measures are undertaken to convey the truths about the crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by Armenia against the civilian population of Azerbaijan as a manifestation of the understanding of one nation and two states.
The meeting also discussed prospects for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
