Staff member of the Ombudsman Institution participated in an online event on child rights

The Baku branch of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations launched a videoconference titled "Social and legal protection of children in Azerbaijan: Parliamentary dimension" as a result of the relevant scientific research.

This videoconference included the staff of the host research Institute, parliamentarians, representatives of central and local executive authorities, and different stakeholders.

Ms. Nigar Agayeva, the Head of the Child Rights Protection Unit at the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan delivered a speech at the event. She briefed the activities of the Ombudsman in the field of child rights as a non-judicial protection mechanism and cooperation with the Parliament.

The participants were informed about the Ombudsman’s video message to the world community on the occasion of June 1 – International Day for Protection of Children. It was said that in this public appeal issued on the eve of June 4 - International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, the Ombudsman called on the international community to unite efforts to protect children from war and violence and to ensure the rule of law in the relevant area.
