The Ombudsman held a meeting with students and the teaching staff at an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev

The Commissioner for Human Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva,  met with students and the teaching staff of the secondary school No. 239 in Baku at an event “Heydar Aliyev and Children’s Rights”dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader, Heydar Aliyev.

In her speech, the Ombudsman inform the participants about the honorable life of an architect and a founder of a modern and sovereign Azerbaijan, the National Leader of our people, his role in the history of our country, exceptional contirbutions of this eminent personality to the field of protection of human rights and freedoms. 

S.Aliyeva also spoke about the role of the National Leader in the establishment of an ombudsman institution. Furthermore, the Ombudsman noted that the country’s President, Mr. Ilham Aliyev and the First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva successfully continue the far-sighted and purposeful policy of the National Leader, Heydar not only in all areas of the life, but also in ensuring children’s rights. 

 The Ombudsman brought to the attention the fact that well-known political figure and stateman, Heydar Aliyev had always approached the issues related to children with great sensitivity, adding that significant measures have been taken to ensure the rights and interests of children during his rule, and for developing the legal basis of state child policy, and that legal framework in this respective field was created. 

Emphasizing the significance of the young generation to be developed and grown up as socially beneficial citizen, the Ombudsman noted the importance of deeply studying and promoting the national heritage of Heydar Aliyev, which is our national treasure, and provides recommendations to children and teachers in this direction. 

S. Aliyeva also gave information about the Institution’s activities in the protection of children's rights and talks about the procedures for contacting the Ombudsman, highlighting the series of events conducted by the Ombudsman's Office within the framework of the "Heydar Aliyev Year." 

Later, Deputy Director of the State Agency for Education at the Ministry of Education, Mehriban Veliyeva, made a speech, providing information about the services of the Great Leader, Heydar Aliyev in the development of education. She expressed gratitude to the Ombudsman for the promotion of awareness among children in this field.

During the event, a video exhibition reflecting the political activities of historical figure Heydar Aliyev and the protection of the rights of children and young people was showcased. 

An exhibition of handicrafts prepared by students was presented, the speeches of the students were listened to, and discussions on the topic were conducted.
