Upon the instructions of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan (HRCA) regular monitoring in military units, military training and health facilities are continued based on the Action Plan agreed between the HRCA, Internal Troops Command of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Civil Defense Troops of the Ministry of Emergencies.
The HRCA representatives conducted monitoring in the units of the Internal Troops in Sumgait and Civil Defense Troops in Baku following the rules in the frame of the COVID-19 outbreak.
In the course of the monitoring, the HRCA representatives were given the information about the military units by the Commands. The Ombudsman team inspected military dorms, medical part, a club, a library, a sports hall, visitation room, a store, a canteen for the servicemen, a laundry, a bath and sanitary unit in the abovementioned military units.
The HRCA representatives were informed about the servicemen of the Internal Troops who took part in the Patriotic War, were wounded and killed, and the commemorative information boards about the martyrs were shown to them.
Besides, the Ombudsman’s representatives met with civilians working in military units and their problems were also heard.
In the future, such monitoring will be conducted in other military units of the Internal and Civil Defense Troops, as well as in the military units of the Ministry of Defense in accordance with the agreed action plan.
