Online events were organized on the occasion of February 2 - the Day of Azerbaijani Youth

Ganja, Guba, Sheki, and Jalilabad Regional Centers of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan held online events on the occasion of February  2 - the Day of Azerbaijani Youth, with the participation of representatives of various agencies of the districts they cover.

The head of Ganja Regional Center S. Abbasov took part in an online meeting with young veterans of the Patriotic War. He noted that the patriotic youth played a decisive role in achieving a historic victory of the country, and as a result of their courage and bravery, our lands were liberated from occupation. S. Abbasov also noted that Ombudsman regularly visits the families of martyrs and veterans, always pays attention to their requests, and takes appropriate measures to solve their problems.

S. Abbasov participated in another online event organized titled “The winning youth of the winning country”. He informed the participants about the successful state youth policy implemented in the country, also stressing human rights, gender equality, and other issues arising from the State Program "Azerbaijani youth in 2017-2021". It was also noted that the effective activity of the Ombudsman in the education field also contributes to the further raising of awareness of young people.

Sheki Regional Center of the Ombudsman in cooperation with the Gabala Child and Family Support Center, as well as the Youth and Sports Department of the district with the participation of various stakeholders, including youth, veterans held related video conferences. The head of the Regional Center P.  Mammadov He then spoke about the Law "On Youth Policy", which provides conditions for the physical, mental, and spiritual development of young people, the realization of their opportunities and skills, solve their socio-economic problems. Pointing out the main goal of youth policy which is assistance in the solution of problems and ensuring the protection of rights of young people, he also noted that the "Azerbaijani Youth Development Strategy 2015-2025" targets at developing young people’s potential, the formation of an active citizenship in the new generation.

The Ombudsman’s Jalilabad Regional Center held an event on the Youth Day at the Mixed-Type Child Boarding House named after O. Mirzayev in Lankaran. The head of the Regional Center Z.Ismayilov stressed that the youth actively participates in all spheres of public life, plays an important role in the implementation of political, economic, humanitarian and social measures, and has become a leading force in society as a result of the wide opportunities created by the state for youth activities.

Guba Regional Center of the Ombudsman also held a video conference jointly organized by the Youth and Sports Department of Siyazan district. It was noted that the on the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev the first youth forum in Azerbaijan was held in 1996, and February 2 was declared as the Day of Azerbaijani Youth.

It should be noted that during these events, the heads of regional centers informed the participants about the Ombudsman's multidirectional activities in the protection of human rights, including the rights of youth.

At the end of the events, discussions on the topic continued and the questions of the participants were answered.
