Ganja Regional Center of the Ombudsman held an online event on the occasion of December 1 - World AIDS Day

On the occasion of December 1 - World AIDS Day, Ganja Regional Center jointly with Tovuz district Youth House Social Service Facility, held an online aware-raising event on the topic "Medical and legal aspects of the fight against AIDS". The event was attended by the young people in Tovuz district.  

During his speech, the Head of the Ganja Regional Center, Mr. Sabuhi Abbasov congratulated the participants on the liberation of Lachin district and noted that young people from Tovuz have also made a great commitment to the counter-defensive operations of the Motherland.

S. Abbasov, underlining the importance of the topic concerned and protection of HIV/AIDs infected people, briefed their joint activity with the Republican AIDS Center in the field of awareness-raising. He has also stressed that HIV causes serious socio-economic problems and which nowadays threats our country as well and informed the participants about the criminal responsibility measures considered in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan for people infected with HIV/AIDS for intentionally transferring the disease to others.  He also informed the participants about other state guarantees for the prevention of the disease, including the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 11, 2010,  "About fight against the disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus".

S. Abbasov recommended the young people always be careful not to be infected with this disease, as well as the COVID-19 virus, and to strictly follow the sanitary and hygienic rules.

The participants were informed as well about the high-risk facilities for HIV infection, ways of infection and ways how to prevent them, treatment of infected patients, as well as about the Republican AIDS Center and the regional HIV laboratory in Ganja.

The event participants also made speeches on the topic and the questions raised were answered.
