: Congratulatory Address by the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva on the Great Victory of the independent Azerbaijan

Dear people and compatriots!

November 10, 2020, is one of the most glorious pages in the history of independent Azerbaijan.

Under the auspices of the President of Azerbaijan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev,  the victorious Azerbaijani Army succedding on the path of restoration of the territorial integrity of our country, brought us the joy of the Great Victory that we have been waiting for almost 30 years.

The military of Azerbaijan that has started its victory march called peacekeeping operation since September 27, 2020, in order to prevent the Armenian aggression against our country and liberate our occupied lands, during a short period of time, as a result of successful counterattacks, has struck down and destroyed the numerous defensive fortifications built by the adversary at great expense for 30 years and also, defeated its “invincible” Army.

Under the command of a triumphant Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the brave Azerbaijani Army has liberated 5 Azerbaijani cities remained under the occupation for long years, 4 settlements, 286 villages, numerous strategic heights, especially the pearl of Karabakh, the cradle of culture, Shusha - one of the ancient cities of our country just in 44 days and demonstrated to the world its great power and military might, restoring the historical justice. Our national state tricolor flag consisting of white star and crescent is already waving majestically over Shusha and other liberated areas, as in all other parts of our country.

Today, with a great sense of pride and happiness, I would love to say that according to the Joint Statement signed by the President of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation on November 10, 2020, the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has ended with the historic victory of our people.

The triumphal military operations forced Armenia to return Aghdam, Lachin and Kalbajar by political means. At the same time, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief restored the rights and freedoms of over one million refugees and IDPs, which had been violated for more than 30 years.

All this is a result of the domestic and foreign policy of our President, which gives joy and endless pride to every Azerbaijani whose heart beats with love for the Motherland. It became possible under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the wise policy of the First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, as well as the position of principle of friendly and brotherly countries, which do not spare their moral support from our people.

I sincerely congratulate our people on the great victory achieved at the expense of the blood of our martyrs, and wish good health and strength to all our soldiers who liberated our lands from the occupation of Armenia on this glorious path!

May Allah’s mercy be upon all our military servicemen who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our independent Azerbaijan, and may the wounded soon recover and regain their health.

Long live Azerbaijan! Long live the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the First Vice-President and the powerful Azerbaijani Army!
