As a result of heavy artillery and missile attacks Ganja city, the houses, historical and cultural monuments, large shopping centers and other public facilities were seriously damaged, and many people were killed and injured.
The attacks also severely damaged the psychological health of the victims and their relatives, including four children who lost both parents. This fact must be assessed as a gross violation of international human rights instruments, international humanitarian law, and violation of the right to the healthy development of children under Article 6 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Taking into account the psychology of the children affected by the Armenian attacks is needed to be restored, at the initiative of the Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva and with support of Briut Medical Center and “Abdiibrahim and Egis” Pharmacological Company, children who lost both parents as a result of the attack on Ganja city as well as their relatives were provided with psychological assistance. The main goal here is to help the affected children to improve their psychological health in the post-traumatic phase and to adapt to normal life.
For this purpose, specialist of the center, clinical psychologist and head of the Ganja regional center of the Ombudsman met with all children, who lost both parents, including 2-year-old Aliyeva Nilay, 3-year-old Shahnazarli Khadija, 16 Aliyeva Sevil and 8-year-old Aliyev Huseyn, as well as their relatives. All of them were provided with specialized psychological assistance by specialists noted above and have been prescribed necessary medicines.
