Every year at the same time between October 20 - November 20, 2020, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan carries out a Child-Rights Month-Long campaign dedicated to the anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The purpose of the campaign is to promote child rights and welfare.
In the frame of the month-long campaign, the Ombudsman mainly focuses on the issues in relation to the promoting and monitoring of the rights of teenage children held in public child-care institutions and juvenile correctional facilities as one of the directions of her activity. For this reason, under the instructions of the Ombudsman, the staff of Ganja Regional Center held monitoring of the detention conditions, treatment standards and other issues related to custody of juveniles held in pre-trial detention facility No.2 in Ganja city.
In addition, the members of the regional center held awareness talks with the juveniles in the facility, informing them about national and international legal norms on child rights and application procedures to the Ombudsman.
