At the invitation of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, Ms.Sabina Aliyeva, the President of the Ombudsmen Association of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Chief Ombudsman of Turkey, Mr. Şeref Malkoç met with the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan, Mr. Farhad Abdullayev.
During the meeting, the Chairman noted that the Azerbaijani armed forces successfully continue its counter-offensive operations to prevent another armed attack on its own territory by the Armenia’s military, violating the internationally recognized state borders of Azerbaijan.
At the meeting, Mr. Abdullayev said that although Azerbaijan conducts hostilities as per IHL and provides all kinds of assistance to people living in the liberated areas, the Armenian armed forces that are forcibly withdrawing from the areas of Azerbaijan, intensively fired on the densely populated residential areas using of forbidden rockets, which resulted in killing of 63 civilians and wounding of 292 and extensive damage to civilian infrastructure since 27 September 2020.
Underlining the terrorist activities pursued by the Armenia’s military-political leadership against the civilian population of Azerbaijan, he said it is a serious crime against humanity, and he had called on all constitutional review bodies, as well as all international organizations to condemn and give a legal assessment to these actions.
In his turn, Mr. Malkoç resolutely condemned a policy of aggression of Armenia and said that Turkey would always stand be by brotherly Azerbaijan. He also expressed his great interest in bilateral cooperation and spoke about the fruitful relationship with the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan.
