Regional centers of the Ombudsman launched videoconferences devoted to September 21 - International Day of Peace

Ganja, Guba, Sheki and Jalilabad Regional Centers of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan have launched online videoconferences on September 21 - International Day of Peace. The events have brought together the representatives from various stakeholders, including government agencies, local organizations and young people.

At the event organized by Sheki Regional Center, the head of the Center, Mr. Parviz Mammadov stressed the importance of peace for the existence of mankind and said that our peace-loving country is only trying to liberate our lands occupied as a result of Armenia’s aggression policy. He also said that the Ombudsman addressed a Statement to leading international organizations to protest military provocations committed in the direction of Tovuz district of Azerbaijan by Armenia, which threatens peace in the entire region.

During the event of Guba Regional Center, the head of the Center, Mr. Bahruz Efendiyev underlined recent killing of one of our soldiers and wounding of another as a result of the other military provocative actions against Azerbaijan on this years’ International Day of Peace – September 21, 2020.

At the event on the topic “Protection of human rights and freedoms and the culture of peace”, organized by Ganja Regional Center, it was noted that the Azerbaijani Government makes efforts to establish peace in the whole region and that wars and conflicts have been inevitable throughout history in the world and in certain regions, but peace is important for all mankind. The Head of the Center Mr. Sabuhi Abbasov also stressed that Armenia fails to understand the notion of peace, and so, continues to commit blatant human rights violations.

During the online videoconference “Peace is the highest value of humanity”, held by the Ombudsman’s Jalilabad Regional Center, the head of the Center Mr. Ziya Ismayilov spoke about the interconnection of peace and human rights, noting that the country President Ilham Aliyev makes efforts for the settlement of armed conflicts in conformity with international law and from the highest tribunes, resolutely declares the importance of the fulfillment of the UN Security Council resolutions.

At the end, the questions of the participants were answered.
