Allegations on the physical abuse of a minor girl in Sumgayit city was investigated

The Staff of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of the instructions of the Ombudsman, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, conducted an on-site monitoring of the allegations spread in some media and social networks about the physical abuse of a minor girl by her step-father.

During the monitoring, Ombudsman’s staff members, including psychologist had talks with the family and had talks with the girl in presence of her mother, as well as privately with the both parents. All were given recommendations how to behave in similar situations in terms of child and parents relations, including rights and responsibilities and child interests.         

This matter is under the focus of the Human Rights Commissioner.
