The Azerbaijani Ombudsman’s Regional Centers located in Ganja (covering 12 districts), Jalilabad (nine districts), Sheki (eight districts) and Guba (six districts) operate successfully, covering remote villages in the surrounding districts.
The Centers carry out their activities mainly by facilitating the submission of appeals to the Commissioner by reducing the payment of transport and postal services for this, on-site investigation of complaints and regular legal awareness-raising activities.
Upon the instructions of the Ombudsman, each of the Regional Centers has been provided with a new vehicle in order to increase the access of citizens to the Ombudsman in the regions, to organize more frequent visits to remote places, as well as for the purpose of on-site and effective investigation of appeals, of monitoring places of deprivation of liberty, as well as other places which persons cannot leave on their own will, also for further intensifying legal awareness activities, in general, in order to increase the efficiency of the Commissioner’s activities in the regions.
