Information of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan

The case of an adolescent girl, abducted for bride kidnapping in Barda district as reported by her parents, spread via internet within the last days, was taken under control by the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan. For this reason, the Commissioner, in person contacted to the teenager girl by phone and got familiarized with latter’s situation. The teenager was explained her rights. Furthermore, the Commissioner spoke to other members of the family, the girl was currently living with.

In addition, the Commissioner officially requested the competent bodies for thorough investigation. The public will be informed soon.
