On July 28, Agstafa District Youth and Sport Department, Agstafa District Heydar Aliyev Center and Public Union of Afghanistan War Veterans jointly organized an online event that brought together young people from Agstafa, Gazakh and Tovuz districts. The event was devoted to the memory of our compatriots who became martyrs while preventing military provocation of Armenian armed forces in Armenia-Azerbaijan state border in the direction of Tovuz district of our country.
The memory of the martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence. In his speech, the head of Ganja Regional Center of the Ombudsman, Sabuhi Abbasov emphasized that the military servicemen, who bravely sacrificed their lives for the protection of territorial integrity, served with dignity and honor for the Motherland. He also noted that the Azerbaijani youth owns a high patriotic spirit.
The participants of the event were informed about the fact that the Azerbaijani Ombudsman issued a Statement dated July 13, 2020, to the world community to provide information about the human rights violated as a result of provocation committed in Tovuz direction. It was also reminded that the Commissioner paid a visit to Agdam and Dondar Gushchu villages of Tovuz district, also monitored the area near Tovuz district Central Hospital that was fired with artillery and visited the Military Hospital to monitor the health situation of the military servicemen who were wounded as a result of Armenian provocation and heavy artillery attacks. An Interim Report based on the outcome of the conducted monitoring was sent to international organizations.
He added that the Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva also addressed the world community a Statement concerning gross violation of several rights of Azerbaijanis who were subjected to violence by Armenians while exercising freedom of assembly and expression to organize peaceful protests in different foreign countries against military provocative attacks of Armenian armed forces at the Armenia and Azerbaijan state border in the direction of Tovuz district of our country mainly targeting the civilians. The Statement called on human rights organizations to condemn Armenian attacks on peaceful protestors and to accordingly bringing to justice the persons who committed those acts.
The speeches in the event were also focused on importance of educating young people in the patriotic spirit and always remembering the honorable memories of the martyrs.
