Guba Regional Center of the Ombudsman held awareness raising videoconferences

Guba Regional Center of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Guba Regional Department of the State Committee on Religious Associations (SCRA) have jointly organized a videoconference for representatives of religious communities from Guba, Khachmaz, Siyazan, Gusar and Shabran districts and the staff members of the SCRA.

In his speech, the head of Guba Regional Center of the Ombudsman, Bahruz Afandiyev noted that June 18 is marked as Human Rights Day in Azerbaijan according to the Presidential Order dated June 18, 2007. He stated that every year Human Rights Month-long Campaign initiated by the Ombudsman kicks off in the country on May 18 and runs until June 18.

The participants held discussions on the implementation of the Plan of Actions on Prevention of gender-biased sex selection for the period of 2020-2025 and touched upon the legal and religious prospects of the issue.

Furthermore, Guba Regional Center also held an online awareness-raising event via videoconferencing with the participation of staff members Guba and Gusar District Youth and Sport Departments and active young people from these districts.

During this event, participants were informed about the Ombudsman’s competencies and directions of activity, including the actions taken in relation to the implementation of the State Program “Azerbaijani Youth in years 2017-2021”, later, their questions were answered.
