Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Azerbaijan visited the Sheki Regional Center of the Ombudsman

Recently, Sheki Regional Center of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) hosted a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Zacharie Gross and the Cultural Counsellor to the Ambassador, Mr. Jerome Kelle.

During the meeting, the Head of the Sheki Regional Center, Parviz Mammadov has informed about the Ombudsman’s activities in the protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms, the procedure on reception of people and handling of complaints on site.It was stressed that regular meetings are held with the persons, who became internally displaced persons (IDPs) as a result occupation of the 20 percent of the territories of Azerbaijan by Armenia and had all of their fundamental rights violated, and were settled in the territories covered by the Sheki Regional Center.

Expressing his gratitude for the meeting and noting the essence of the exchange of views, the Ambassador, Zacharie Gross provided information about the activities of the French National Institution for Human Rights (Commission nationale consultative des droits de l’homme). He wished the staff of the Ombudsman’s Sheki Regional Center every success for their activity in the field of protecting human rights and freedoms.
