Nowadays, on the initiative of the Sabunchu District Executive Auhority the next event of the project titled “Gender-based violence, the tragedy of our society” was held at the secondary school #113 in Kurdakhani settlement.
The Deputy head of the Sabunchu District Executive Authority, head of the Monitoring Group on Gender Violence and Child Abuse, Rana Farajova, Chief advisor of the Scientific-analytical Sector of the Ombudsman Office, Lamiya Zeynalova, representative of State Committee for Family, Women and Child Affairs, head of the Sabunchu District Youth and Sport Office, principal of the school, as well as teachers and schoolchildren participated at the event.
In her speech the representative of the Ombudsman Office mentioned that the Commissioner always pays special attention to the issues related to the protection of women’s and children’s rights, fighting against violence, ensuring gender equality. She gave information about multi-field activity of the Ombudsman on the areas of preventing negative situations concerning domestic violence, early marriage and school dropout and also about 24/7 hotline “916” for the cases concerning child rights violation. Alongside, the publications of Ombudsman Office on child rights were presented to the school.
At the event schoolchildren demonstrated their drawings and performances on gender-based violence. The schoolchildren participating in the project, were awarded with certificates by Sabunchu District Youth and Sport Office.
