The annual report of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the protection of human rights in the country has been prepared on the basis of the Article 14 of the Constitutional Law on the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Not later than two months after the end of the current year the annual report of the Commissioner is submitted to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and reported before the Milli Mejlis (Parliament).
At the same time, the annual report is also submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, Constitutional Court, Supreme Court and Prosecutor-General.
On February 27, 2020, the annual report was submitted to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and sent to the other state authorities as prescribed by the Constitutional Law.
The annual report for 2019 reflects the Commissioner’s activity in the field of restoration of human rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in the international treaties to which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a party and violated by governmental and municipal bodies and officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as to prevent violation of human rights, results of legal educational and scientific analytical work, public relations and cooperation with civil society organizations, international relations, as well as the proposals and recommendations aimed at ensuring human rights and freedoms more effectively.
After the hearing in the Milli Mejlis, the report will be published in the mass media for the wide public to get acquainted.
