Staff members of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan - chief advisor of the Scientific and Analytical Sector, Lamiya Zeynalova and senior advisor of the Sector for Protection of Civil and Political Rights, Aysel Yagubova participated in a training course on gender equality that was jointly organized by State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs (SCFWCA) and German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) from January 30-31, 2020.
Within the framework of training, presentations and group work were done on the topics such as ensuring gender equality, protection of women’s rights, gender issues and women’s rights in national legislation, gender and other topics in international documents, and the results were discussed. It was noted that gender issues and women’s rights protection are among the priorities in the activity of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman who carries out her activity in this field in complaince with 12 Critical Areas of Concern of the Beijing Platform for Action.
During the event the importance of such kind of trainings was highlighted in terms of supporting the importance of equal opportunities for men and women in all spheres of public life.
At the end, the participants of the event were awarded certificates by the SCFWCA.
