A presentation of the compilation of lectures 'Introduction to Gender', which was re-edited and translated into English and published under the general editorship of Sabina Aliyeva, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was held at the IX Baku International Book Fair, which was organized by the Ministry of Culture. The staff members of the Ombudsman Office, exhibition participants, and media outlets took part in the presentation ceremony.
It was noted during the presentation that since the establishment of the institution, special attention has been given to the development of legal science and legal education among the population. It was emphasized that the protection of women's rights and the promotion of gender equality are among the main directions of the Ombudsman's activities.
The participants of the exhibition were broadly informed about national and international mechanisms for the protection of women's rights, gender issues, the development stages of the women's movement, and activities in ensuring women's rights and gender equality, which were covered in the compilation of lectures called “Introduction to Gender” initiated by the Ombudsman.
Furthermore, special reports based on on-site investigations carried out by the team led by the Ombudsman to investigate cases of violation of the norms and principles of international humanitarian law during the Second Karabakh War and the post-war period were also presented to the attention of exhibition participants. It is noted that these reports have been sent to relevant international human rights organizations.
At the current exhibition, the Ombudsman Institution’s total of 240 publications in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English are being showcased.
