The information regarding the socially dangerous condition of the 4-month infant and 3-year-old child in Ganja city spread through the mass media was investigated under the child rights protection mandate of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, and the matter was taken under scrutiny.
The staff of the Ombudsman’s Western Regional Center visited those children, who have been placed in the Ganja City United Child Hospital, and inquired about their health state, medical records, and general situation on the spot. In the course of the monitoring visit, the condition of both children was assessed as stable and normal.
Referring to the information provided by the hospital, the children were abandoned by their foster grandmother in front of the administrative building of the Ganja City Executive Authority. They were then taken by the police officer on the same day and brought to the treatment facility. In the hospital, the children underwent various medical tests, and the necessary medical services were rendered. Their health state was taken under control.
Regarding the matter at hand, information has been obtained about the measures undertaken and planned for the protection of the rights and resolution of custody issues of children from the Commission on Protection of the Rights and Interests of Minors under the Ganja City Executive Authority and the Main Police Department of Ganja City. Currently, an investigation is ongoing concerning the noted facts by the Department.
