Jalilabad Regional Center of the Ombudsman held an event on protection of the rights of the child

On December 17, Jalilabad Regional Center of the Ombudsman held an awareness raising event on the topic “Effective protection of children’s rights as one of activity directions of the Commissioner” in Day Care Center for Children in Jalilabad.

The head of the Jalilabad Regional Center of the Ombudsman, Ziya Ismayilov, representative of “Healthy environment” Public Union for Supporting the Youth Development, Vamig Babayev, also staff members of the above-noted Day Care Center, parents and children took part the event.

The head of the Jalilabad Regional Center, Z. Ismayilov noted that the rights of children are always in the focus of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, like the rights of other groups of population. He provided information about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Rights of the Child, as well as about the Ombudsman’s activity in this field. Moreover, he spoke about the importance of National Program for Action to Raise Effectiveness of Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms, proposals made by the Commissioner with respect to enhancing efficiency in the protection of the rights of the child, Child Rights Month-long campaign, Hierarchic Education program on Child Rights, the Commissioner’s 24-hours active hotline service 916 on the violation of the rights of the child and other issues.

Participants shared their views on the topic and appreciated the Ombudsman’s activity in the direction of protecting human rights, including children’s rights, which is its inherent part.
