Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan invites young people with academic degree to volunteering activity

In accordance with the State Program “Azerbaijani Youth in the years 2017-2021” approved with the Decree #3286 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 15, 2017, and the speech of the country President in the conference dedicated to Azerbaijani Youth Day on February 1, state bodies were tasked with a duty to effectively use the potential of youth, to establish conditions for active participation of young people in all spheres of society, to instill professional skills in them and increase their practical knowledge, to support discovering their creative and innovative potential and to develop volunteer movement in the country.

With this purpose, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan started to apply the volunteering activity among youth, taking into consideration the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Volunteering Activity.

The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan reminds that volunteering is considered a socially useful and free activity related to providing work and services not prohibited by the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Volunteering activity in the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan is organized mainly in following directions:

- to have internship with the departments and units of the Office;

- to get acquainted with national legal framework and international legal acts in human rights field, as well as legal literature in the library;

- to participate in the process of investigation of applications addressed to the Commissioner;

- to take part in the reception of applicants;

- to get acquainted with the mechanism for protection of human rights and freedoms, set forth in the country Constitution through analyzing applications and complaints;

- to get acquainted with the requests sent to state and local self-government bodies, authorized persons with regard to appeals addressed to the Commissioner;

- to get acquainted with the requests sent to the Constitutional Court;

- to get acquainted with the Commissioner’s activity in protection and promotion of the rights of different groups of population (children, persons with disabilities, women, older persons, refugees, internally displaced persons and migrants, military servicemen, detainees and convicts);

- to get acquainted with the Commissioner’s activity in the fields of legal education, scientific-analytical work, information and international relations;

- to get acquainted with the proposals prepared by the Ombudsman Office with regard to the improvement of legislation from the point of ensuring human rights;

- to get acquainted with the Commissioner’s annual reports;

- to get acquainted with the Commissioner’s activity in the field of implementation of the functions of the National Preventive Mechanism;

- to render assistance to the staff members in fulfilling duties on activity directions , which the volunteer is involved in; 

Volunteering activity is considered for the period of two months.

Each of the volunteers that successfully fulfilled the contractual obligations during two-month-long activity will be given special certificates by the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan that will provide an opportunity for successful transition to labor activity.

Persons meeting the abovementioned requirements will be contacted and will be invited for interview.
