The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Erkan Ozoral.
Greeting the guest, the Ombudsman told that the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan are based on friendly and fraternal ties. She noted that the high-level strategic partnership relations between our countries are developing through a rising line. Ombudsman mentioned that Azerbaijan and Turkey always support each other in the international community.
The Ombudsman brought into attention the fact of occupation of 20 percent of the territory of Azerbaijan, massive violation of the rights of more than one million refugee and internally displaced people. Touching upon the ongoing military aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva highly appreciated the support of the brother country for the fair position of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, information was given on the comprehensive activity of the Ombudsman institution. The membership of the institution in the International Ombudsman Institute, Asian Ombudsman Association, Ombudsman Association of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as the activity being carried out for establishment of Network of Ombudspersons of Turkic-speaking countries were brought into the attention of the guest.
Sabina Aliyeva emphasized the importance of further fostering the relations with the brother country in the field of human rights and developing much closer cooperation between Ombudsman institutions of both countries.
The Ambassador Erkan Ozoral thanked the Ombudsman for the sincere reception. He highly evaluated the activity of the Ombudsman institution in Azerbaijan.
Highlighting exemplary relation between two countries, Erkan Ozoral mentioned that Turkey is always on the side of Azerbaijan in the issue of resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Erkan Ozoral shared his views on further development of the close ties between the Azerbaijani and Turkish Ombudsman institutions and the necessity of coordination of activities of these institutions at the international level.
