An event on “Child rights: Equal opportunities” was jointly held by Ganja Regional Center of the Ombudsman and Goygol District Executive Power in the Gizilja village school named after Ragif Rzayev with participation of the teachers and students of the school.
Opening the event, authorized representative of the Goygol District Executive Power Vugar Huseynov noted that the National leader Heydar Aliyev always kept children in focus of attention and significant steps were taken for protection of the rights of the children. He emphasized that the measures aimed at the health, education and comprehensive development of children are being taken by the President Ilham Aliyev, successful reforms were implemented, as well as the social projects and the valuable work carried out by the First Vice-President, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, serve the development of the children.
He thanked the Ombudsman for regularly organizing legal awareness events on such kind of necessary topics in Goygol district and different villages.
Noting the essence of teaching-upbringing, education and formation of children as our future, in a healthy environment, the Head of the Ganja Regional Center of the Ombudsman Sabuhi Abbasov gave broad information to the participants of event about the Convention on the Rights of Child adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1989, as well as the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Child Rights. He highlighted the importance of promoting child rights in the fight against child violence and the diverse activity implemented by the Ombudsman Institute in this field all over the country.
It was stated that regular series of events were held by the Commissioner on innovative initiatives in sphere of ensuring, protecting and promoting child rights, which were among superior goals in our state.
Advisors on Child Rights in the Ombudsman Offices and regional centers, hotline service of 916, Ombudsman's Child and Youth Peace Network as the Resource Center of Ombudsman for Child Rights and the Leadership School under this institute are effectively operating.
S. Abbasov also provided detailed information about the hierarchic education project on child rights, involved attention of the participants of event to the textbooks and other publications on child rights issued by the Ombudsman Institute and recommended programming lessons, events on child rights via using these visual materials and textbooks.
Also, the employee of the Goygol District Education Department delivered a speech and stressed upon the significance of child rights awareness.
A number of topical issues were discussed at the event for exemplary organization of work in the field of children’s upbringing and education, the necessity of protecting children from harmful habits and malicious information was specially emphasized and several proposals were put forward for organizing education process effectively.
