The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova participated at an event held in the “Care” (“Qayghi”) Children’s Rehabilitation Center, which was established at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The Head of the “Care-For a Healthy Generation” (“Qayghi-Saghlam Nesil Namine”) Public Union S.Abdullayeva greeted the guests and expressed her gratitude to the country President and the Head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for their attention and support towards children with special needs. She stressed that the purpose of the above-noted organization is the integration of children with special needs, including those with cerebral palsy (CP).
E.Suleymanova delivered a speech congratulating the children, their parents and the staff of the Center on the occasion of the International Day for Protection of Children and Ramadan holiday. The Ombudsman mentioned that the state keeps focus on the issues related to protection of rights and rehabilitation of children, takes necessary actions for their development and takes care of children with special needs, including those with Down syndrome, Autism and CP.
The Commissioner thanked to the Public Union for the effective work in the rehabilitation of children with CP and for passionate, skillful leadership.
After the children recited poems and performed dances, musical entertainment with cartoon characters was demonstrated for them.
Within the Human Rights Month-long Campaign, the Ombudsman has also met with children in the Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Down Syndrome under the abovementioned Public Union on the eve of the International Day for Protection of Children.
