Representatives of the Ombudsman attended seminar on Nationalization of Sustainable Development Goals

Presentations and discussions based on the Nationalization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were held within the seminar, organized by the country Office of the UNICEF with participation of relevant state authorities, which are cooperated with.

The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan was represented by heads of departments of the institution, Rashid Rumzada and Faig Aghayev.

Discussions were conducted on the main topic of the seminar, also on preparing the second Voluntary National Review of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the SDGs, also panel presentations were held on the directions of children protection system.

In addition, presentations were organized by the national and international specialists of the UNICEF Azerbaijan on the topic of “Nationalization of the Sustainable Development Goals for Children in Azerbaijan”.

Representatives of the Ombudsman shared their opinion and presented about the activities implemented in the field of protection and promotion of the children’s rights, experience formed in teaching and monitoring their rights by securing sustainability, strategic approaches to the child rights protection.

It was noted that the activity of the Ombudsman developed on the basis of SDGs serve the reliable protection of the rights of the child in the country, improvement of their welfare, increasing the support measures towards ensuring their interests and enhancing the partnership for this aim.

Measures carried out in accordance with the recommendations given by the relevant Treaty Body of the UN, assessment of the needs of state authorities, law-enforcement and local executive bodies acting in the field of child rights protection and developing the skills through the trainings, as well as raising legal awareness of civil society institutions and local communities, drafting and printing teaching aids, joint monitorings held in state child facilities and other essential projects are of this nature.
