The next awareness-raising event regarding the rights of the child held at the European Azerbaijan School (EAS) in Baku, was attended by the staff members of the Ombudsman Office Lamiya Zeynalova, Ilaha Afganli and Dilshad Ismailova.
The representatives of the Commissioner have provided broad information about the essence of human rights and the rights of the child as its integral part, international and national legislative acts in this field at the event organized for increasing the knowledge of students of the 4th grade who made researches on the children’s rights. Free exchange of views was conducted on the basis of the articles set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the 30th anniversary of which to be celebrated this year.
They were also informed on the comprehensive activity of the Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova in the field of child rights protection, at the same time on the work carried out by the Office on combating violence against children and 24/7 hotline service “916” on child rights.
In addition, the students and teachers were informed about the Hierarchic Child Rights Education carried out at the initiative of the Ombudsman in collaboration with the Ministry of Education at the schools in Baku and regions since the academic year 2009-2010.
The event continued with interesting, interactive discussions, numerous questions of students were answered in detail.
Video-images from previous events which was implemented by the Ombudsman Office at the EAS and devoted to awareness-raising on child rights were demonstrated.
Educative publications prepared by the Ombudsman Office were used during the event and at the end were presented to the school.
The staff of the school conveyed their gratitude to the Commissioner for her activity in protection and awareness-raising on child rights, expressed their wishes for further continuation of the cooperation.
