As it’s known, June 18 is marked as the Human Rights Day in our country according to the Order of the President Ilham Aliyev dated June 18, 2007.
Taking into consideration this significant date, this year Human Rights Month-long Campaign has also been declared to be held at the initiative of the Commissioner for Human Rights Elmira Suleymanova from May 18 till June 18 as for every year. It aims to determine the achieved results, as well as the challenges ahead and actions for their elimination.
The Ombudsman has issued letters to state bodies, city and district executive authorities, National NGO Forum in this regard.
It should be noted that series of events and discussions on human rights are organized by state bodies, NGOs and mass media, communities and international organizations all over the country within this annual Month-long Campaign on the basis of provisions of the National Program for Action to Raise Effectiveness of the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan (NAPr) approved by the Presidential Order dated December 27, 2011, in implementation.
Such kind of month-long campaigns serve restoration of violated rights and development of civil society, along with raising legal awareness of different groups of population.
Furthermore, the information about arrangement of conferences and awareness-raising events by different state bodies on promoting human rights for groups of population and about carried out activities, also the proposals on more effectively ensuring human rights should be submitted to the Ombudsman until June 10, 2019.
The results of the Month-long Campaign will be analyzed and publicly disclosed.
