Statement of the Ombudsman regarding the protection and provision of the rights and freedoms of citizens of Armenian origin living in Karabakh

The Republic of Azerbaijan, as a democratic, legal, and secular state, has fully restored its sovereignty over the internationally recognized territory by eliminating threats to the rights and freedoms of its citizens during the local anti-terrorism measures implemented on September 19-20 of the current year.

In Azerbaijan, comprehensive measures are being implemented to effectively protect the rights and freedoms of every citizen, regardless of their nationality, religion, language, ethnicity, or other affiliations, including the citizens of Armenian origin living in Karabakh.

As the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, ensuring and protecting the rights and freedoms of our citizens of Armenian origin living in Karabakh, in accordance with national legislation and international documents, is always at the center of our attention.
