Ombudsman’s Resource Center for the Elderly founded within the premises of the Azerbaijan Women and Development Center, organized event dedicated to 12 November - National Day of the Constitution. The center helps to senior citizens to maintain their physical and spiritual health, provides psychological, and legal consulting services and helps the old persons to spend their leisure time efficiently.
Ombudsman’s staff member, Mugalib Makhmudov delivered awareness conversation with older persons about constitution and its provisions, amendments and additions applied thereto between 2002-2016 years; on the right to suffrage of citizens, including old persons; on policy developments created towards better ensuring the rights of aged persons, including constitutional reforms for improvement of human rights and governance in the country.
M. Mahmudov especially highlighted the importance of last referendum, changes to the constitution with regard Article 23 and six new articles added that contributed to the better regulating issues related to security and protection, ensuring human rights and freedoms, social obligations related to private property, reliable information security of citizens, enhancing citizens' right to suffrage, including their right to vote for and stand for election, improvement of public administration institutions, increasing responsibility of municipalities.
The participants thanked the Ombudsman for organizing such an interesting event.
