National preventive group carried out monitoring of Baku Investigation Isolator

This time, National Preventive Group (NPG) held monitoring of Baku Investigation Isolator under the Ministry of Justice without prior notice.

During the monitoring, custody condition, quality of food, food supply, access to healthcare, treatment were evaluated. Regarding the investigation of some applications received by the Commissioner, many accused have been privately met, where they have been given legal advice. Some concerns raised were investigated. Aside this, some accused have raised concerns that not enough investigation were carried out dealing with their cases. 

NPG accepted new applications addressed to the Ombudsman and some concerns have been solved on the spot.  The administration staff of detention facility have been instructed with regard to improvement of the detention standards.

The outcome of the monitoring and the requests about the applications dealt have been sent to the relevant authorities.
