Azerbaijani Government together with the World Bank financially support the Ministry of Justice Project “Progressive justice services and modern judicial infrastructure”. Eventually, representative of Ombudsman, Mr. Rashad Novruzov took part in the presentation “Pro bono legal advice” thereto. The event got together international experts, public stakeholders and young lawyers.
This project aimed at increasing citizens’ satisfaction on justice system by modernizing of court infrastructure, creating e-Court system, quickening the implementation of justice, expansion of electronic legal services and providing access of the vulnerable group of population, IDPs, law income families, women, adolescents, in particular.
“Proposals relating to pro- bono legal advice, providing lawyering and creating legal aid clinic centers in every city and rayons were reflected in annual reports of Commissioner” stated Mr. Novruzov, highlighting the considerable importance of the current project. he also added that the marginalized group of the population are provided with free legal aid during monitoring of rapid response group and citizen’s reception.
R. Novruzov said that it would be better to apply pilot project on legal aid, running in some cities in southern rayons as well; to involve local community, especially active young people in a view to coordinate centers with rural areas and to broaden the category of marginalized groups, by including migrants, thereto.
